And here's the famous David. Unfortunately the sun gave his face a sorta harshness to it. At least that is what I noticed.

I love the old fashion feel of this one.

This one below is interesting to me because of the large statue hovering over the people and how the sun is hitting on the statue's face and he appears to be looking away to avoid direct sunlight. Plus the guy sitting on the fence (center) looks funny.

beautiful photos lorena. i especially like the statue which, as you say, is a timeless classic, and also the arches. magnificent.
ReplyDeletei like all the photos. its all magnifiscent with B/W and love the details :)
ReplyDeletevery nice!
The statue in the bottom picture is probably thinking - when's everyone going to go so I can get some sleep.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. Yeah, I like black and white, too. Sounds like you had a great time. Where to next?
Yes, again, beautiful pictures. Perhaps I should add some to my blog to add the visual aspect. Thanks for visiting, I will be back I enjoy seeing your smiling face.

ReplyDeletegreat photos as usual lo...and hey that veil'd woman is me and i'd be flattered if u added me as a contact on flickr. though there are not many pix there...i like taking pictures but i feel very shy taking them, am uncomfortable drawing attention to myself...have to get over this stupiditiy...this blog was an attempt at that.
YOU LOOK SMASHING IN YOUR NEW PICTURE! verrry verry nice. :):)
I think big D. looked better out of his cage, but what are you going to do?
ReplyDeletestatue aesthetics aside, he probably made for a better picture -inside- the cage, of course...
do you take your b/w pictures in b/w, or take them digitally in color and desaturate them to b/w? I always think I'm going to b/w-ify a picture, but it's so hard to let go of the color...
hey lorena, I feel I'm roaming on the streets roman empire again! very nice pics. btw, how did your darkroom photos come out?
ReplyDeleteI don't much enjoy sights. Just here to comment on YOUR NEW PIC! Whoa, woman! You took my breath away! What. A. Smile. ^_^

your poetry has the same effect on me, it takes my breath away!
Gulnaz is right, you look great in your picture. You have a "Wonder Woman smile."
ReplyDeletethat is so cool of you to say that neel. as in a past post, i had mentioned that as a little girl i had always wanted a wonder woman smile. thanks you fellow pisces :)
ReplyDeleteon such a low mood friday you all have made me feel so good, thank you!!
Great photos! These bring back memories of my visit. But the Uffizi was closed. So, I didn't get to see the statue of David. : ( But that's better than showing up in Paris on Tuesday, when the Louvre is closed (I believe). Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for the comment.
ReplyDeleteactually this statue was outside the gallery. the actual 'david' is in the Gallery of the Accademia. I was lucky to visit both.
ReplyDeletelikewise thanks for comment!
thanks mystique :) i think i'll have to put some of Venice in color.
ReplyDeleteactually as much as i love sunsets i can't believe it never crossed my mine to do that! i guess all the walking/long days made me too tired to get up for that. i have to add that to my list of things to do next time i go there. i didn't go on a gondola ride either. i figured i should save something for my return which i hope it will be a more romantic trip.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely gorgeous pics...I'm so impressed. I love photography, but have never gotten into it professionally, or even on a greater level than that of my children....very nice.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs. Very good choice to have them in black & white. They bring out so much more ... history here.
ReplyDeletethanks .:a:. and mitzzee!! i'm glad you visited.
ReplyDeletepezgirl :: thanks and now that you mention it, i can totally see it!!
beautiful photos. My favorite is the one where the statue is surrounded by all of the bars. It makes for an interesting contrast between art and industry.
ReplyDeleteCharming photographs! What a wonderful thing to take back from your holiday in Rome. :)
ReplyDeletethanks sk8rn and carolvs.
ReplyDeletejust wanted to look at david again. :)
ReplyDeleteand say thanks for all those sweet comments on mine. ;)

ReplyDeletethank you tazeen, that's very sweet of you to say! you're much too kind. it's a great compliment coming from you who writes so beautifully :)
ReplyDeleteMichaelangelo's David's face has a sort of worried look on it. But that's cuz he's worried about having to fight Goliath. ;)
ReplyDeleteI remember hearing that on a tv show about the statue, they zoomed in really close on his face. I had no idea he had a worried look on his face, I always focused on his bod. :p
wow that's interesting zulema, i didn't know this. well the sun definitely added to the worried look. i saw him at the galleria but i didn't notice that. his face looked pleasant but then again david was tall and i couldn't get a close-up of his face.
ReplyDeletethanks for the background on David. I really hadn't read up.
ReplyDeleteanyhow, David stands at 4 meters and 10 centimeters in height.
very tall.
