Whether you're a scaredy cat, a love kitten, or just cautious, it's better to choose wisely, not to sweet talk the socks off of anything with legs. I imagine a poet like you would want some progression towards romance -something to relish in slowly as intimacy forms, not a quick-fix fling. Be proud of your personality. I think it's sexy to have little hints of seduction here and there, making attraction and restraint a delicate dance of give and take. If you release all your passion at once, it's spent and then what fun do you have? I like tango, where couples bodies exude this tortured, pent-up passion, an insatiable but unrealized urge to have the other. You tease, oh how you tease!!
