to shout against loss and change and motion

I'm almost done reading "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" and it's such a lovely book. One of the main characters, David is a photographer and I wanted to quote this part of the novel regarding photography,
"David's desire to fix the world in place. You couldn't blame him, no, you couldn't fault him for wanting to go deeper into every fleeting moment, to study its mystery, to shout against loss and change and motion."
I can relate to this. I also love photography for its power to conjure up so many stories and emotions from past memories. I especially love taking candid photographs of my friends and family.

Everything you said about photography is true about writing as well, although I know it's a bit different. Thank you for sharing you, and others' writing to desribe you.

I have also meant to say thank you, dear spirit for following me wherever I have chosen to swim (or sink).

That comment is very beautiful to me, very true. That loss, that change, that motion. Sometimes we can shout so loud that I worry we go too fast and the crowd, the crowd seems to shout loudest of all. But you have never run with the flock and I think you are finding a very genuine and unique talent for a blend of photography and words.

I too love photography! While a photo captures the soul of a moment, the picture itself captures the beauty of the person behind the lens.

Hope you know you take beautiful photos!

Especially to see the details that are otherwise so easily lost.

mmmmm... i agree. the secrets that are stored in a photo are the most intriguing aspects for me. wondering what's behind a set of eyes or who walked this or that path. yes, you do capture those moments.

isn't it funny how we seem to be much more open to sharing secrets now that everyone's on the web

Photos are so important because time passes too quickly for analysis. We all experience moments in different shades. It's good to show other people the way life looks from behind your eyes.

It is very true of photography. More so when it freezes certain moments.
